How many times how we felt negative about ourselves because we're not as 'skinny' or 'beautiful' as the women on social media? How many times have we felt bad about how we look because we're not 'perfect'? Often when we see women on the streets, we do the same thing; compare ourselves to them.
All the Instagram influencers that post images from their travels, looking like models just make us more depressed. We compare ourselves to them, thinking our life is boring and dull but in reality, their lives are not perfect; they're just like us. Photoshop and filters work wonders. Yet as we grow up, we are taught through social media, magazines and TV that you have to be skinny to achieve something in life.
We keep forgetting that our appearance does not reflect who we are as a person; we are more than just our skin. There is so much more underneath that we just don't see.
“If you’re confident people will see that, not your skin”
"Not everyone has to look the same, the world would be a pretty boring place if they did!”
“Beauty isn't defined by size; You can be any size and have the confidence to feel beautiful”
We have to stay positive and love our bodies especially in a time like this as I know many of us are spending HOURS a day scrolling through social media.
I spent many years worrying about how I look. I wouldn't wear the clothes I wanted because they would make me look 'fat' and 'chubby' but you know what, I began to embrace it. We as humans, are all different colours, shapes and sizes. Our bodies do not define who we are as a person.
Yes I might have gained weight in the past year or two but I am happy. I am eating healthy and working out meaning that I am loosing access weight but it's not because I am unhappy with who I am - it's because I feel better after a healthy meal and an evening workout. I am doing this for myself; and myself only. Not to please others which is something we tend to forget. If you feel amazing in your skin and your body; you go girl! Don't let anyone bring you down.
