Going back to university after a long break can be stressful and difficult for some people. I find it quite hard to settle back into the routine and living by myself after spending three weeks with my family. But I guess that's just a part of life. My house at home is hectic; not in a bad way. I have two younger brothers and a dog which means that people come visit us all the time and it's never really quiet unless my brothers are out so getting back to an empty flat can be weird.
The first couple of days after I come back I feel out of place. Like I know where I am but it feels like I'm having an out of body experience and everything seems strange. After 3 or 4 days I begin to settle down which is frustrating as I usually come back on the weekend and have to go back to uni on the Monday. Yikes!
I have a number of things that help me get back into the routine and these are as follow:
Plan your week ahead
Sounds so simple yet it really helps. If you know what you're doing the following week, it is so useful to plan it ahead. I personally use a planner yet I know a lot of people who prefer to write their notes and plans on their laptops and phones; and that's alright too. It's about finding what media suits you :)
Whether you have lectures, seminars or have a shopping spree planned; WRITE IT DOWN. It will help you be more organised and prepared for the upcoming days or weeks.
The day before you start uni, take some time to pamper yourself and just relax. Everyone has a different definition of relaxing. Whether it is taking a bubble bath, painting your nails or enjoying a hot cup of tea while reading a book; find something that relaxes you and implement it. Once your body and mind is relaxed, it should be easier for you to get into the routine,

The first few days of uni can be challenging but remember that you are not the only one experiencing this. Getting back into a routine after a long break can be challenging for anyone; even if you cannot see it. I started uni on Monday and I settled down faster than I thought I will :)
