travel essentials

Updated: Sep 13, 2019

Every time we travel, we seem to have similar things we take with us. Similar toiletries, clothes and electronics are being brought on board. But do we need everything we take?

I am not going to lie, most of my travels on the plane are less than 3 hours which means I don't need a travel pillow or an eye mask but there are certain things I need in order to survive at my destination, so here's my list:

My handbag includes all of the things I might need throughout the flight. Some items might seem silly but I like to have everything I might need next to me.

Passport, plane ticket, bus/train ticket, purse, phone, earphones, portable power bank, prescription glasses & case, chewing gum, snacks, bottle of water, face wipes, tissues, lip balm, journal, notebook, pen, medication, hairbrush

I usually fly with just a handbag and a carry on suitcase which means I need to restrict to the 100 ml rule on my toiletries.

Laptop, laptop charger, memory stick, sunglasses, straighteners, curlers, planner

couple of tops, jeans, leggings, underwear, socks, spare pair of shoes, towel, cardigan, jumper

Makeup Bag

primer, foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer, highlighter, mascara, eye shadow, lipstick, makeup brushes, sponge, nail file, nail polish, nail polish remover, deodorant, face cream, face masks, jewelry, hair clips, hair bands, cosmetic pads, q-tips, toothbrush*, shampoo**, prescribed medication

* Toothbrush

I have been using the BlueRock bamboo toothbrush and it has been amazing. The toothbrush is made out of a Mao bamboo which is the fastest growing plant in the world meaning that it is a great product for people like me; people who want the world to be a better place for the future generations. For every toothbrush sold, BlueRock donates 10p to the marine life conservation projects.

You can purchase one here. BlueRock does monthly and annual subscription, so everyone will find something for themselves. You can also get a 25% off your first order when you use the code 'SEALS' at checkout.

** Shampoo

Since I am limited to 100 ml of liquid only, the Shine Shampoo Bar is a great alternative to the normal shampoo. The shampoo bar is naturally derived, not tested on animals and creates no waste due to the fact it is sold in a metal container and lasts up to 4 times longer than any liquid shampoo. It has an amazing citrus smell which lasts forever. It is perfect for travelling and I wouldn't switch it for anything else!
